Pro-Tec

Pro-Tec Welders

Pro-Tec machines are built around a simple idea: the welder should go to the work, not the other way around.

Every unit in the range runs off single-phase power, most from a standard household plug, and all of them are light enough to be carried in one hand to wherever the job actually is — the back paddock, the top of a scaffold, the side of a boat.

The range covers stick, MIG, AC/DC TIG and plasma cutting, from a 2 kg 140 amp portable up to a 200 amp AC/DC TIG that will weld aluminium properly. All models carry a digital display, built-in temperature, voltage and current protection, and an IP21S rating. Full specifications and a downloadable data sheet for each machine are below.

Pro-Tec 140M

Part No. PRO140M — 140 amp portable stick welder
The lightest machine in the range at just 2 kg, the 140M is small enough to carry in one hand and runs off a standard 10 amp household plug — no special outlet, no generator needed. It delivers up to 140 amps of stick welding with pulse control, and adds Lift TIG for finer work. Arc Force, Hot Start, Anti-Stick and VRD are all built in, so it strikes cleanly and holds a smooth arc without fiddling.

Pro-Tec 180DS

Part No. PRO180DS — 180 amp portable stick welder
The same portable thinking with more grunt behind it: 180 amps from a 15 amp plug, in a 3.2 kg unit that ships in a sturdy carry case. Pulse MMA and a digital electrode-size indicator make it quick to dial in, VRD keeps it safe on site, and it is built to run off a 10 kVA generator — which is what matters when the job is a long way from a power point. Takes electrodes up to 4.0 mm, and will run TIG with an optional torch and regulator.

Pro-Tec 170 MIG

Part No. PRO170MIG — multiprocess MIG / stick / TIG inverter
A three-in-one inverter for the shed or the back of the ute: synergic MIG, stick and DC Lift TIG in a single 10 kg unit that plugs into a standard 10 amp outlet. The synergic programs set voltage and wire speed for you once you tell the machine what you are welding, or you can switch to manual and set it yourself. Runs gas or gasless, takes both 1 kg and 5 kg spools, and includes a two-roll wire feeder and a 3 m MIG torch.
SpecificationValue
ProcessesMIG (gas & gasless, synergic or manual), MMA, DC Lift TIG

Pro-Tec 200 MIG

Part No. PRO200MIG — multiprocess MIG / stick / TIG inverter
The bigger brother of the 170: the same three processes and the same easy synergic set-up, stepped up to 200 amps off a 15 amp plug. The extra headroom shows in the duty cycle — 115 amps at 60% rather than 80 — which makes it the pick if you are welding steadily through the day rather than in short bursts. Gas or gasless, 1 kg and 5 kg spools, two-roll feeder and a 3 m torch included.
SpecificationValue
ProcessesMIG (gas & gasless, synergic or manual), MMA, DC Lift TIG

Pro-Tec 200P AC/DC

Part No. PRO200PACDC — 200 amp AC/DC TIG welder
AC/DC is what you need to weld aluminium properly, and this is the machine in the range that does it. 200 amps across both AC and DC, with HF and Lift starting, pulse control for thin material, and adjustable AC balance and frequency — so you set the cleaning action and arc stability yourself rather than accepting whatever the machine gives you. Pre-flow, post-flow and downslope are all adjustable, and it ships complete with an 8 m WP26 torch, argon regulator, leads and gas hose.

Pro-Tec CUT 40P

Part No. PROCUT40P — 40 amp plasma cutter
A 40 amp plasma cutter that starts without touching the work. Non-touch (pilot arc) starting means less consumable wear, no sticking and a cleaner start every time — and it will strike on painted or rusty material where a touch-start machine struggles. Cuts from 1 mm up, handles grid and expanded mesh with a dedicated grid-cutting mode, and runs off a 15 amp plug with a 12 cfm compressor. Comes with a PT60 torch and lead.

Duty cycle is the share of a ten-minute period the machine can weld at that output before it needs to cool. A 20% duty cycle at 200 amps means two minutes welding, eight minutes resting — every machine here will run continuously at its lower current rating.
